Lowe Pumpkin Party

Sassy Lowe Family

Last weekend, Kev and I decided to celebrate the Fall season with a Lowe Family Pumpkin Party. It was a party for everyone to just enjoy good food, company and pumpkin carvings. One of my favorite parts was being able to connect with friends we haven’t seen in a while.

My grandmother always throws the best get-togethers so I tried to make sure that I had all of her party essentials. Some of my favorite memories are from our family parties. My grandmother is the best hostess – the food is always hot, conversation flowing and laughs galore.  For our party, we had home-cooked meals, desserts, appetizers and gift bags. We also had a photo booth available for everyone to take photos together.

During the party, I was able to stop and see my friends enjoying their time while we were all together. I had this overwhelming sense of happiness to be able to see their smiles.

Fall Memories

Fallin leaves

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again; I love fall. To me, it’s one of those perfect seasons that I look forward to year-round, and one that I hate to see end. There’s just something about the smell of cinnamon and the briskness of the air that takes me back to playing in leaves at the cabin in Murphy, NC.

It’s a certain smell that the leaves have when they’ve just fallen and are becoming crisp. It’s unbelievable earthy and one I wish I could bottle up for the entire year. Whenever I get a whiff, I immediately see Kev and myself in a pile of leaves that Gammy and Pappy had just raked.

Each year I longingly look forward to the first day of Fall and the memories it brings back. The ones of my family driving through Georgia to get to North Carolina. The ones of pumpkin patches and hot apple cider. The ones of Pappy and Kev eating sweet, hot funnel cakes at the Georgia Mountain Fair. And the ones of our family all together in one of the best places.

I think that’s really why I love Fall the best – it reminds me of the memories that I’ve made with the ones I love.

DIY Fall Wreath

Now that we’re officially into the Fall season, it’s time to make sure that the apartment is decorated and smelling like Fall.  In early September, Jo-Anns and Michaels had a huge sale on Fall decor so I may or may not have started decorating then…

Anyways, Mom and I spent one Saturday making the easiest pumpkin wreath! All you need is orange and green deco mesh, a wire wreath and ribbon!

The first step is to wrap the orange deco mesh around the wire frame so that it looks like a pumpkin. It’s easier to start at the bottom and wrap the mesh upwards as if you’re wrapping a wine bottle and tying at the top.

Once you have it wrapped, take the green mesh and tie it around the top to resemble a leaf. Then embellish your wreath with ribbon, fun fall decorations and such. For Halloween, we’ll trade out the plaid ribbon with the fun witches’ ribbon in the picture above.

And yes, my mom is the crafting guru so she’s the one who made this wreath. I believe she got the idea from her sweet friend, Kim.

Each year I like to make different kinds and this one took us less than 10 minutes to make, which is always a good sign to me! Less is sometimes more, and in this case it was perfect!
