Orange Blossom Style

If you’re up here in North Central Florida, then you’ll know it doesn’t feel quite like we’ve started the Spring season. It’s been downright cold up here. I’ve been trying to look on the bright side of things and what better way to welcome Spring than by styling with some gorgeous orange designs. This post is dedicated to my love of all things orange blossom. From perfumes to clothes to shoes and bags to stationary goods, I’m always on the lookout for the best finds!

DIY Spring Wreath

IMG_5056.jpg

I couldn’t welcome in Spring without a new wreath and decorations! As a graduate student, I love finding inexpensive ways to make our apartment feel like a home. Most times Michaels and Jo-Anns give a student discount, but I also use their coupons to score the best deals!

I am currently obsessed with using deco mesh for wreaths – it’s easy to use and versatile. You can shape the mesh into any shape or design that you want – just a couple of twists and turns to get you there. For this wreath, my mom and I used what we had on hand, but added in some new deco mesh. Originally, I was going to create a sunflower, but inspiration struck and we decided to make peonies instead.

Here are the steps for the wreath:

1. Cut some of the green mesh into footlong pieces and bring both ends together to twist in the middle for the leaves

2. Cut the yellow and pink mesh into 6-inch pieces for the bud parts

3. Twist the buds in a circular motion and wrap with the other colored mesh for the petals

4. Create several flowers with alternating colored mesh

5. Tie both leaves and flowers onto the wire wreath

6. Complete the wreath with strips of tied burlap

The best part of this wreath is that it doesn’t have to be perfect – any alteration can be made!

Spring To-Do List

When your favorite colors happen to be pastels and you have an odd obsession with flowers, Spring time tends to be one of your favorite times of the year! I cannot tell you how ecstatic I am that it is finally here! And although it’s been pretty cold in Gainesville, it’s began to warm up for the season.

I love Spring for a lot of different reasons, but mainly for the new flowers, spring wardrobe and the beautiful weather. This Spring I wanted to make sure I completed all my favorites, so I made a to-do list:

  1. Make a Spring wreath
  2. Decorate the apartment
  3. Bake Easter desserts
  4. Host a garden tea party
  5. Picnic in the Park
  6. Fresh Flowers
  7. Make Easter baskets
  8. Go on a bike ride
  9. Try a new recipe from Southern Living & Good Housekeeping
  10. Spring cleaning & donation of clothes

I’ve already completed a few things on my list, like sending out these Easter cards to my friends and family. They’re so easy to make, and customize depending on the recipient!
